Got an Issue? Dial G-O-D

Got an Issue?  Dial G-O-D

June 6, NY
John 14:6 says, “I am the way, the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Monday was a beautiful day! We headed to the Holiday Inn in Lake George to pick up our pre-registration packets for the rally. When we go to the hotel, they had staffers guiding traffic so you knew exactly where to go. They sent us around to the back of the hotel and into a back door headed to the pre-registration pick-up site. We got in line for the M-N folks. The lady took Norm’s license and went to look for the packet-to no avail. When she came back he asked her to check LaMargaret and sure enough there it was. She explained a few things and gave us a book with the activities listed in it for the week. It seemed to be going smoothly. Seemed is the word!  We asked the lady where we went to find out about if there were any openings in the tours set up for the week. She seemed confused and didn’t know what we were talking about. She ended up sending us to the activities’ site down the road at another hotel. Off we went.
We arrived at Fort William Henry Hotel looking to walk through the vendors and find out about rides. The men went in one direction to look at bikes and the ladies went with me to find out about the rides. We located the activities area and began our quest. We were guided into a room with two ladies. We explained our dilemma to them and they proceeded to tell us we would have to go to the registration site to find out the answers. We tried to explain to them we had been there and that they had sent us to the activities site. Then a gentleman came in and joined the conversation. He gave the same information. We then asked if there was a number of someone who was in charge of the rides we could call. No luck there either. We were in the wrong place. We talked with them about ten minutes and realized they certainly didn’t have what we needed. Off we went!
My comment to the ladies was to remember this when we set up our events. Make sure there is someone folks can call who could direct them to the right spot for all areas of the event.
I was disappointed because I wanted to go on the Almish ride and had hoped maybe someone had canceled so we could go on Tuesday. Not this time!
As I was walking through the demo ride area, I thought about what just happened. It’s just like when we get into a situation in our lives. Who do we have to turn to when we need wisdom to take care of an issue that has come up? Sometimes we turn to friends, sometimes family, sometimes Non-Christians, self-help books and sometimes doctors. We even go here, there and everywhere. Trying to find the answer we want. However, as Christians we have ONE who has ALL the answers to life’s dilemmas and is ready, willing and able to help at any moment we call! It’s the Lord Jesus Christ!! Proverbs 3:5-6 says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all you ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”  He even gave us a Book called the Bible with all the answers to life’s issues spelled out for us.
Going to get advice from others is not wrong or sinful, but there could be pitfalls getting advice from those who are not like-minded (Christ-minded). The ways of the world are not the same and the goals of the world are not the same as God’s ways. God is omnipresent, omniscient and sovereign. He will always have our best interests at heart. So, we must be careful when we get into difficult situations that we turn to Christ first. And then, if need be go to some trusted friends who are walking this journey called life on the same path as you.
Ask yourself these questions:
The last time you were in a difficult situation who did you turn to? Did they give Godly advice or worldly advice?
Were your friends looking out for your best interests as God would?
Did you spend any time in prayer about the issue?
