Divine
Appointments
June 10,

“The steps
of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord.” Psalm 37:23
Friday was an
easy day. All of our friends had gone home. We headed down to the vendors to
see about the new pegs for me in the back. In the afternoon, we went to a CMA
picnic Tony had invited to be a part of.
As I was getting ready to leave, a lady came up to me and hugged me,
saying, I am supposed to talk to you. I am a breast cancer survivor and
understand you are too. I said yes and
off we went—sharing experiences about how God has used our journey. A divine appointment!! 1--She has started a Bible
at her church. I have started one too. I
have been limited to the time I can give to the Bible study right now. Maybe in
the next few months, God will open up some opportunities for me with the
ladies.
2—She has had some divine appointments along her journey, and
I have too. God has sent me several women in the doctors’ waiting room to
minister to and share His love with.
What is a divine
appointment? A divine appointment is a meeting with another person that has
been specifically and unmistakably ordered by God.
I will share one
experience with you I had waiting to see the plastic surgeon last month. I took
a book to read while waiting. Folks came in so I moved next to a lady to give
them some more room to sit together. I smiled at the lady next to me, but she
didn’t seem to be too open to talking, so I opened the book and began to
read. She leaned over and asked me if it
was a good. I said, “Yes, it’s a Christian mystery. I really like them, and
it’s an easy read.” That opened the door
for sharing. She had her surgery in Summerville, is single and she and her kids
have moved out west. She comes back to North Charleston every three months to
see the breast cancer surgeon. I was
called in and saw the doctor without me asking for any information. As I sat
waiting I was thinking, why didn’t I ask for her name and email address. We
could at least communicate through emails. Ugh! Why do I do that, Lord?
As I left the room,
I hoped she would be out there. She wasn’t so I sat down to wait. She came out
and we talked a little bit more. I asked her name and asked her if she would
like to share some encouragement via email. She said yes and gave me her name
and email address.
We have been
communicating ever since. I have had the opportunity to ask her about her
relationship with the Lord. She wrote back that her relationship had not been
on track and she knew that was why God brought me into her life. Praise You
Lord!!
As I review and
edit my Bible study I will be sending it to her for her to do on her own. I am so excited that I could encourage
someone else and give God the glory for setting up the appointment.
It was so
encouraging to meet someone else God is using through the breast cancer
journey. We exchanged email addresses and plan to share more about how God is
using our journey to glorify His name. It will be good to walk the journey
arm-in-arm as we hear from the Lord about what He wants us to do for Him!!
Sometimes I miss
those appointments because I am not looking. God has sent each of us folks only
we can talk or minister to. Are you looking around? We have a great message of encouragement to
give others. One of hope and love and mercy and grace. Let’s go out and ask the
Lord to show us opportunities for “divine appointments” to share Him with
others.
When was the last
time God worked in your life? How did He
work?
When was the last
time you shared with someone how God has worked in your life?
Ask Him to show you
someone who needs YOU and ONLY YOU!! He
will be faithful and send them to you. You just need to be ready to share what
He has done for you… You don’t need to be a Bible scholar or have a bunch of
Bible verses memorized. Just know what He did for you. It’s that simple.
Lord, I pray for my sisters, that they will look to You to
send them divine appointments. I pray that they would be ready and willing to
speak into the person’s life you send them. Let them know You will give them
the right words to speak at the right time. Send the Holy Spirit to prick them
even now.
