Almighty God!

June 12 Niagara Falls, NY

   I Chronicles 29:12  “both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all, and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone.”

Psalm 65:6  “Who establishes the mountains by His strength, Being girded with might”

Matthew 19:26  And looking at them Jesus said to them, “with people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

            Awesome!! Incredible! Powerful!!  Unbelievable!!  Majestic!!  Surreal!!

Finally, the day had arrived! I was going to see Niagara Falls in person!! I was really pumped up about the opportunity!! There are no real words to describe the water as it cascades over the falls. Awesome! Incredible! Powerful! Unbelievable! Majestic! and Surreal don’t even begin to describe what you see as you look at the falls.

Some Niagara Falls factoids:

·        About 600,000 gallons of water flow over Niagara Falls every second

·        About 20% of the drinking water in the United States goes over Niagara Falls

·        Fish actually travel over the falls and about 90% of them survive. Experts believe that the white foal from the rushing waters cushions their fall.

     Are those not amazing facts? When you stand on the observatory and look out you see the American Falls, the Bridal Veil Falls and part of the Horseshoe Falls. To see all of the Horseshoe Falls, you have to be on the Canadian side. As I stood in the various places looking out at the Falls and the rapids and tons of water flowing into the falls, I thought this: just think how much more POWERFUL our GOD IS!!!!

            God is omnipotent. Omnipotence is an attribute. It is how God reveals Himself to us. It is part of His nature and character.  Being omnipotent, God has power over wind, water, gravity, physics, etc. God’s power is infinite, or limitless.    Omni means all and potent means powerful.   Ephesians 1:18-23 says, “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably  great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.  And God is placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.”

A.    W. Tozer, great theologian, said this, “Since He has at His command all the power in the universe, the Lord God omnipotent can do anything as easily as anything else.  All His acts are done without effort. He expends no energy that must be replenished. His self-sufficiency makes it unnecessary for Him to look outside of Himself for a renewal of strength. All the power required to do all that He wills to do lies in undiminished fullness of His own infinite being.”

Some examples of where God has been omnipotent:  Creation, salvation, resurrection, and understanding.

What more do we need? God can do anything, no matter how impossible it might seem to us finite beings. If that is true, then how do I apply it? Knowing He is omnipotent gives us a source strength.  He can handle any problem you might have! For you and me, that means He can Do it! No matter what the “it” happens to be. Name a problem you have that seems impossible to fix. God can fix it! Name a problem that seems will never be resolved. God can resolve it! There is NOTHING IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD!!

Right now, begin to pray and ask the Lord to work in a situation that you think is impossible!
