Test! Test!!

Test ! Test ! Test!

June 15 Albany, NY

I John 4:1-3  Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.  This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: every spirit that  acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.
John 14:6 Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
She was very specific in what exit to take to get to her house. Exit 25, NOT exit 26 as the GPS told us to do. We checked out GPS directions against what Chrissy told us and basically they were the same, with one exception, she said exit 25 and ours said exit 26.
As we passed exit 26, Norm asked me one more time if it was exit 26 or exit 25 we were to getting off.  I reminded him that exit 25 was the exit Chrissy said to take.    As we neared what should have been exit 25, Norm said this says exit 25A.  In South Carolina our exits have a and b.  Oh no, Chrissy didn’t say anything about an a and b. What now? He made the decision to go ahead and get off at 25a. We pulled off to the side of the road to restart the GPS with our new location.
I looked at the new directions and lo and behold, they were the same as what we had before! Either set would have gotten us to our destination!
We’ve heard so many horror stories of folks who have relied on their GPS to get them from point A to point B. They have ended up on dirt roads on motorcycles or way far away from where they wanted to be going, or have gone way out of their way from their destination.

Spiritually, it is very dangerous to take information from “false teachers and prophets”. It could lead you straight into the depths of hell for eternity. In I John 4, it tells us to not believe every spirit, but to test the spirits to see whether they are from God. We must be careful not to let the world and other “ways” to heaven infiltrate our thinking and beliefs. There are many religions who say there are more than one way to get to heaven. Guess what? They are wrong. Clearly in I John 14:6, Jesus says, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. Non one comes to the Father except through me.’ He is the ONLY WAY! Some say you can work your way there. NO! Some say get saved and live how you want. NO! Some believe in a statue to save them or a “god”. Again, NOOOOO! These will not work. Only ONE died on the cross to take the weight our sins upon His back and that is JESUS.
We have a guidebook to help us on our journey. It’s called the Bible. Go there if you have a question. Ask God to show Himself and the truth to you if you have doubts or questions about what someone is telling you or teaching you.  He will answer you and give you TRUTH!
    Couple of hints:

To find out where folks stand you can always ask the question, “who is Jesus to you?”  Right away you will know if they are on the same track as you. If they say Jesus was a good man or teacher, that’s true, but that’s not all. He is the Savior and the ONLY ONE!!
